The invention provides a method for recycling waste lead-acid batteries and recovering lead, comprising a crushing and separation process, a conversion process, a pressure filtration and paste coating process, a lead paste reduction process, a melting and ingot casting process, and a water treatment and acid-base recovery process for waste lead-acid batteries. In the lead paste reduction process, lead paste is coated on negative electrode plates, and lead is produced by electrolysis in a series-connected electrolytic cell without wire connection, using sodium hydroxide as the electrolyte; electrolytic lead powder is immersed in a sodium hydroxide solution. In the melting and ingot casting process of electrolytic lead powder, the lead powder immersed in sodium hydroxide solution is placed in a heating kettle at a melting temperature of 400–420°C; sodium hydroxide is continuously added during melting, and the sodium hydroxide solution covers the molten lead to prevent oxidation. The crushing and separation process includes a sink-float separator to separate and recover plastics; lead-containing materials are screened into two products of different particle sizes: those with a particle size of 1–7 mm are crushed and re-screened; materials with a particle size of less than 1 mm are desulfurized to obtain lead paste.
